“Pueo Over Haleakala” was inspired by witnessing Hawaii’s native short-eared owl (Pueo) soaring over their territory in Haleakala National Park. Hawaii’s pueo has unusual habits compared to the typical owl. They are diurnal (active at daytime) and they soar like a hawk in search of their food which allows for amazing sightings. This illustration was created as hand dawn pen and ink with digital color.
