Description
“Pu‘u Power” was photographed in Haleakala National Park on Maui, Hawai‘i. Pu‘u in the Hawaiian language means a hill or protuberance. This image was photographed from the volcanic Pu‘u Ka Lu‘u o Ka ‘O‘o– looking to Pu‘u Kama‘oli‘i (lower right), then to Pu‘u o Maui (middle), and finally Pu‘u Kumu at the foot of the peak Hanakauhi (left). The volcanic cinders in the park have a wide range of colors, including the full range of warm oranges and reds, white, yellow, off-green, and gray-blacks.
