* There is Olowalu General Store and a great restaurant (Leoda’s: https://www.leodas.com/) about a 10 minute walk away and across the highway. Bags of Ice and vending machine snacks available at the campsite. As a result of the recent Lahaina fires there are no nearby grocery stores and we strongly recommend stopping along the way in Kahului (our islands commercial center) for gearing up.

Food & Drinks

• You are responsible for your breakfasts and lunch, snacks and beverages (aside from Saturday’s ceremony – see below) throughout the weekend.

• We will be providing a shared pizza dinner for those who want to contribute and participate on Friday night (contacting us beforehand is required if you want to participate in this). Please see the email we sent out on 1/7/24.

• On Saturday night the evening of our ceremony, we will provide pupus, a catered dinner and drinks.

• Dinner will be a Mediterranean fare buffet, with vegan/vegetarian/Gluten Free options included.

• Drinks will include a cocktail hour with a few premixed drink options, followed by a self serve bar to include: beer, ciders, seltzers, and non-alcoholic kombucha. There will also be a champagne toast with a kid friendly bubbly option. Please bring additional drinks for yourself if you desire. (We will have some young bartenders volunteering their time, please bring cash if you care to tip them)

• On Sunday night, we are considering bringing in a chef to offer a barbecue dinner option for purchase. Would this be of interest to you and your party? If so, please let us know by e-mailing or texting us! We thought this might make things easier for traveling families.

Power at Camp Olowalu

There is no power in Tentalows or at Campsites. There are charging stations and Wifi available. Please refer to the accommodations page linked here or check out Camp Olowalu’s website directly for more information: https://www.campolowalu.com/

Bathrooms

We will be gathering communally around the cabin area (see map below) for the ceremony and music events each evening. We need to ask for your participation in using the bathrooms in your assigned area of the campground and NOT using the cabin area bathrooms unless you are staying in the cabins. So, if you are staying in the campsites or tentalows, we need to ask you to walk back to that area to use the bathrooms there. If we overuse the cabin bathrooms, we will have a problem in overwhelming the sanitation system in this area! We will have announcements to remind you about this during our ceremony, your help is greatly appreciated.

Preparing Yourself for the Venue & Other Key Items (More info on Camp olowalu’s website here https://www.campolowalu.com/

• Campsites do NOT come with ANYTHING except space to set up tents and a picnic table. There are also a handful of shared charcoal BBQ stands through-out the campsite (bring your own charcoal). Below is a list of things we recommend you bring in case camping is new for you.

  • Headlamps & Lanterns
  • Coolers (ice is available for purchase near the office from 7am-6pm)
  • Campsites & cabins do NOT come with coolers provided
  • All Tentalows provide small coolers
  • Cabin dwellers will have limited access to refrigeration, we suggest and ask that you bring coolers if at all possible as the available refrigeration will be limited due to catering needs.
  • Sun Protection (Reef safe sunscreen / Hats / Water shirts / Umbrellas)
  • FYI, average temperatures at Olowalu in February is 82° high, / 64° low
  • Three days in a beach environment can be a LOT for those not accustomed so please take sun protection seriously.
  • Tents/ Shelter for anyone in a camp site – Many sites don’t have ample shade, pop ups recommended though there are many shaded areas to be found
  • Beach Towels/Shower towels & multiple Swimsuits recommended
  • All accommodations come with hot shower options
  • Bedding
  • Campsites must provide all your own
  • Tentalows come with all bedding and linens
  • Cabins come with twin mattresses ONLY so linens, blankets and pillows must be brought.
  • Water – We will be bringing filtered water for during the wedding itself Saturday but expect what we can provide will get used up quickly. If you’re sensitive about drinking tap water (which is available onsite) please bring filtered water for your use though the weekend.
  • Beach Chairs/Sun Umbrella’s
  • Snorkel gear and floaties can be quite fun here
  • Bug repellent – I have never been bothered by mosquito’s here but I’m not very sensitive, if you are sensitive to mosquito’s you might want to have this with you.
  • Instruments! If you like to play music we encourage you to bring your preferred instruments as there will be plenty chill beach time & round the fire time.

Gifts

We are not desiring any physical gifts but we would be honored to receive a heartfelt card from you. We will also have an area at the wedding with a Polaroid camera and a scrapbook where we’d love to hear your notes throughout the weekend. We will also have a place for monetary donations via Venmo, cash or check if you’re feeling called towards that kind of giving. These funds would go towards our honeymoon and our ongoing home renovations. Your company is truly the best gift and we are just so, so excited to get to celebrate with all of you!!

Attire

We’ve gotten a few questions from peeps on what to wear. This is going to be a beach wedding so I’d say beach casual is ideal. An aloha shirt or similar would be awesome for the gents and sundress or something similar for the gals. Not even our bridal party will have suits/ties or anything resembling classic formal, so please don’t stress about it—come dressed comfortably. For those traveling from afar you won’t have access to an iron or anything like that (unless you ask us to bring one down for use) so consider that in choosing what you might want to wear. While we will be beach side and it should be plenty warm, maybe even hot during the day it can get cool at night so pack a hoody and I’d also recommend a rain coat just in case. Finally, we will be on sand and grass, so ladies, heels will be problematic!

Other notes

– We will not be doing assigned seating for dinner except for immediate family and bridal party so please grab a spot where feels good to you

– Dinner will be a buffet and you will be called up by group based on your table setting – please listen for this so that all goes smoothly and there’s no overly long lines for anyone to deal with.
